The statement by the Accord Party and its candidate, Amb. Obanoyen Abiola Sikiru (Adidas), is nothing but another desperate attempt to diminish the growing popularity and achievements of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Nobody has said that Governor Aiyedatiwa is above criticism because we acknowledge that God ordained his emergence. But it is pure political hypocrisy to pretend that recognizing God’s hand in leadership is the same as promoting political idolatry.
Those who are suddenly preaching accountability today should first account for what they have contributed to the development of Ondo State and Owo Kingdom. It is easy to issue lengthy press statements from the sidelines, but governance requires vision, courage, and responsibility.
Governor Aiyedatiwa is not governing by slogans or destiny alone. He is governing through practical actions that the people can see—massive infrastructural development, improved security initiatives, and policies aimed at repositioning Ondo State for sustainable growth.
The opposition has every right to speak, but it must stop creating a false narrative that the state is bleeding under Governor Aiyedatiwa. The truth is that Ondo State is making progress, and that progress is frustrating those who had hoped this administration would fail.
It is laughable for politicians who could not convince the people at the polls to now present themselves as the conscience of society. Democracy is not about bitterness and endless criticism; it is about offering alternatives and supporting good policies when they benefit the people.
No amount of blackmail, emotional rhetoric, or misuse of scripture can change the fact that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa enjoys the confidence of the majority of Ondo people because he is working and delivering on his promises.
Those waiting for this administration to stumble for their political gain will continue to be disappointed. Governor Aiyedatiwa remains focused, and with the grace of God and the support of the people, he will continue to move Ondo State forward.
The people of Ondo State can clearly distinguish between genuine opposition and political opportunism. History will remember those who built the state, not those who specialized in issuing press statements and predicting failure.
