The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to the open letter written by Mr. Adekunle Adebayo to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, in which he attempted to attribute the internal issues arising from the APC primary process to the Governor’s leadership.
As a democratic party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) encourages members to express their opinions. However, such opinions should be based on verifiable facts and should contribute to strengthening the party rather than creating unnecessary divisions.
It is therefore unfair for Mr. Adekunle Adebayo to create the impression that the concerns or disagreements of some party members represent the collective position of the APC in Ondo State. The APC is a structured political party with constitutional organs responsible for conducting, reviewing, and resolving matters relating to its primary elections. Like every democratic party, it accommodates diverse opinions and provides established mechanisms for resolving disputes. It is therefore inaccurate and misleading to suggest that the views expressed by a section of party members reflect the position of the entire party or that the party’s internal processes are determined by any single individual.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has continued to demonstrate respect for the rule of law, internal democracy, and the decisions of the party. His administration remains focused on delivering good governance through investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare, security, agriculture, youth empowerment, and economic development across Ondo State.
It is equally regrettable that some loyal party members who peacefully expressed their opinions are being ridiculed and subjected to derogatory comments. In a democratic society, every party member has the right to lawfully express support for a position without being insulted or intimidated. Political disagreements should be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect, and the party’s established processes.
At this critical period in the life of our great party, every stakeholder should embrace reconciliation, strengthen unity, and place the collective interest of the APC above personal ambitions. Public exchanges capable of deepening divisions only serve to weaken the party and distract from its shared objectives.
Governor Aiyedatiwa has repeatedly demonstrated maturity, humility, and a willingness to work with all stakeholders in the interest of the state. His record in office and commitment to the welfare of the people remain the true measure of his leadership.
The Opomulero Group therefore urges Mr. Adekunle Adebayo and all concerned party members to allow the appropriate organs of the APC to perform their constitutional responsibilities while supporting every genuine effort aimed at preserving the unity, stability, and electoral strength of our great party.
