The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to a Facebook post by Barr. Kayode Magboju in which he described the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, as “a river that forgot its source.”
Such a statement is not only an unfortunate political cliché but also a deliberate attempt to divert public attention from the visible achievements of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration. When facts become inconvenient, propaganda often becomes the preferred weapon of those who cannot fault the Governor’s record of performance.
Governor Aiyedatiwa has never forgotten the people of Ondo State who entrusted him with the responsibility of leading the state. His administration continues to deliver on infrastructure, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare, security, youth empowerment, and other people-oriented programmes. These are tangible achievements that cannot be erased by social media rhetoric.
It is disappointing that a young lawyer, whose profession is founded on facts, sound reasoning, and the rule of law, appears to devote more time to political commentary on Facebook than to the rigorous legal analysis expected of a member of the Bar. Ondo State is home to many brilliant young legal practitioners who earn respect through diligent advocacy in the courtroom, thoughtful legal scholarship, and meaningful contributions to the administration of justice. Public commentary is every citizen’s right, but when it comes from a legal practitioner, the public expects arguments supported by facts, evidence, and reason—not catchy slogans or political rhetoric.
If Barr. Magboju has genuine concerns about Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration, the people of Ondo State deserve a fact-based critique that addresses policies and outcomes rather than inflammatory phrases. Democratic debate is strengthened by evidence and constructive engagement, not by slogans intended to generate controversy.
The people of Ondo State are politically conscious and discerning. They will continue to judge Governor Aiyedatiwa by his performance, integrity, and commitment to good governance—not by provocative posts on social media.
The Opomulero Group therefore urges all political actors to elevate public discourse. The future of Ondo State should be shaped by ideas, facts, and solutions, not by propaganda or sensational rhetoric.
History has always favoured leaders who build, unite, and deliver results. Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains focused on that mission, and no amount of political grandstanding will distract his administration from serving the people of Ondo State.
Signed:
Hon. Olasupo Olakunori
Director General, Opomulero Group
