ADEWALE MOMOH’S ARTICLE IS A DELIBERATE MISREPRESENTATION OF REALITY; GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA’S OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE CANNOT BE ERASED BY A QUESTIONABLE SURVEY — DG OPOMULERO

The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to the misleading article authored by Adewale Momoh titled “Ondo Leads in Poor Governance Ratings.” We reject in its entirety the attempt to portray Ondo State as the worst-governed state in Nigeria based on an unverified perception survey that neither reflects the realities on the ground nor the tangible achievements of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

It is unfortunate that instead of conducting balanced journalism, Adewale Momoh chose to amplify statistics from a private organization without providing an opportunity for independent verification or acknowledging the visible developmental strides taking place across Ondo State.

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa inherited enormous challenges, yet within a short period he has demonstrated prudent leadership, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people. Under his administration, Ondo State has witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure, prompt payment of workers’ salaries, settlement of pensioners’ entitlements and gratuities, rehabilitation of roads, investment in healthcare facilities, recruitment into critical sectors, agricultural development, youth empowerment, and massive support for education.

It is equally misleading for anyone to claim that Governor Aiyedatiwa has failed in creating employment opportunities. Within just one year in office, the Aiyedatiwa administration has facilitated employment for over 5,000 Ondo State indigenes across critical sectors, including the teaching service, healthcare, the Amotekun Corps, the Forest Guard initiative, and other government agencies. Thousands of young people who were previously unemployed now have sustainable means of livelihood because of the governor’s deliberate commitment to job creation. These are verifiable achievements that no politically motivated report can erase.

The claim that Ondo State is the poorest-performing state in governance is not only misleading but an insult to the thousands of citizens who continue to benefit from the governor’s people-oriented policies. A government that has consistently reduced the state’s debt burden, expanded healthcare infrastructure, improved security collaboration, and embarked on strategic developmental projects cannot honestly be described as a failure.

If Adewale Momoh truly seeks the truth, he should visit the communities where roads are under construction, the hospitals receiving upgrades, the schools benefiting from government interventions, and the beneficiaries of various empowerment programmes instead of relying solely on perception-based rankings.

It is also important to note that governance cannot be fairly measured by selective opinions alone. The true measure of governance lies in visible projects, prudent financial management, institutional reforms, improved security, and the confidence of citizens and investors. On these indices, Governor Aiyedatiwa continues to earn widespread commendation.

The Opomulero Group therefore urges members of the public to disregard sensational reports designed to create a false narrative against the present administration. Ondo people are witnesses to the remarkable transformation taking place under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and will not be deceived by politically motivated propaganda masquerading as objective analysis.

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains focused on delivering sustainable development, creating more jobs, expanding infrastructure, improving healthcare and education, and building a prosperous Ondo State. No amount of misinformation or media manipulation will distract him from fulfilling the mandate freely given to him by the people.

Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael
Director General, Opomulero Group
