The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to another lengthy article authored by Oloroogun Sola Ajisafe titled “Ambassador of Optics: On Law, Silence and Selective Justice in Ondo.” Like his previous interventions, the article is long on rhetoric but short on balance, objectivity and fair assessment.
It is unfortunate that someone who presents himself as a defender of the rule of law has consistently chosen to reduce every achievement of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to political propaganda while magnifying every challenge into an indictment of the entire administration. That approach is not objective analysis; it is selective criticism.
The Attorney General, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, did not confer the description of “Ambassador of the Rule of Law” in a vacuum. It is based on measurable actions taken by the Aiyedatiwa administration to strengthen the justice sector, respect constitutional institutions, improve judicial administration and uphold democratic governance.
Oloroogun Sola Ajisafe deliberately ignores these achievements because they do not fit the narrative he seeks to promote. Governance cannot be honestly assessed by highlighting perceived shortcomings while refusing to acknowledge progress.
Within a relatively short period, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has facilitated employment for over 5,000 Ondo State indigenes through recruitment into education, healthcare, security agencies, the Forest Guard initiative and other sectors. Workers’ welfare has improved, pensioners and retirees have continued to receive attention, healthcare infrastructure is being expanded, road projects are ongoing across the state, and security collaboration has been strengthened. These are verifiable accomplishments that directly impact the lives of the people.
The attempt to portray the Governor as indifferent to justice simply because every issue has not been resolved to the satisfaction of a political commentator is both unfair and misleading. In a constitutional democracy, criminal investigations and prosecutions are conducted in accordance with the law and available evidence—not through newspaper articles or public pressure.
The people of Ondo State are discerning enough to distinguish between constructive criticism and political advocacy disguised as legal scholarship. Democracy benefits from criticism, but criticism must be fair, factual and intellectually honest. Selective outrage and one-sided commentary do not strengthen democratic institutions.
Rather than dismiss every achievement of this administration, Oloroogun Sola Ajisafe should acknowledge the undeniable progress that has been recorded while offering constructive recommendations on areas requiring further attention. That is how responsible public discourse contributes to good governance.
The Opomulero Group therefore calls on the people of Ondo State to remain focused on the visible achievements of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and not be distracted by commentaries that present only one side of the story. This administration remains committed to the rule of law, accountability, institutional development and the continued progress of our dear state.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa will remain focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Ondo State. Progress is measured by actions and results, not by political essays.
