“Our tertiary institutions now have a government that listens, responds and acts”

The Director General of Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael, has commended the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for the payment of the August arrears balance of the newly increased subventions to the four state-owned tertiary institutions in the state.

Hon. Olasupo described the latest payment as another clear demonstration of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to the welfare of workers, the stability of the education sector and the sustainable development of Ondo State.

According to him, the Governor has once again shown that his administration is not driven by mere promises or political rhetoric, but by concrete actions that directly address the concerns of the people.

“This is leadership in action. Governor Aiyedatiwa listened to the concerns of our tertiary institutions, approved a 60 percent increase in their monthly subventions, and has now followed through with the payment of the arrears balance.

“That is what responsible governance looks like. It is easy for politicians to make promises, but it takes commitment and financial discipline to translate those promises into actual payments,” he said.

The DG noted that the increased subventions would provide the institutions with greater capacity to meet their salary obligations and improve the welfare of their workforce, while also creating a more stable academic environment for students.

He therefore appealed to the striking unions to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture by returning to work, stressing that the prolonged disruption of academic activities would ultimately hurt the students and families the government and unions are both committed to protecting.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa has demonstrated goodwill. He has acted on the major demand concerning the subventions. At this point, the unions should also demonstrate understanding and patriotism by returning to the classrooms and allowing our students to resume their academic activities.

“Industrial action should not become an end in itself. When government responds positively to workers’ concerns, dialogue and cooperation should take precedence over continued confrontation,” he added.

Hon. Olasupo further said the development was evidence that Governor Aiyedatiwa was steadily building an administration where workers’ welfare, education and institutional development receive serious attention.

He urged the people of Ondo State to continue supporting the Governor, describing him as “a listening Governor who is gradually turning commitments into measurable results.”

“Governor Aiyedatiwa has shown that he understands the importance of investing in people and institutions. From workers’ welfare to education and infrastructure, what matters now is that the people can see the impact of government.

“We commend the Governor for keeping faith with our tertiary institutions. This is another reason why Ondo people should continue to support an administration that is working,” the DG stated.
