Prince Adenekan Olateru-Olagbegi represents, to many of us, a new hope for Owo Kingdom—a brilliant technocrat, deep thinker, hardworking professional, reserved gentleman and committed politician whose passion for the progress and development of Owo remains unquestionable.

He is a true son of his great father and a worthy pride of the Ologho Elewuokun Dynasty.

Throughout his years of public and political engagement, Prince Nekan has demonstrated commitment, diligence and honesty in every responsibility entrusted to him. He served during the administration of Governor Olusegun Mimiko and, regardless of whatever recognition or reward he may have received, he can hold his head high knowing that he contributed meaningfully to the political development of that era.

His political relationships have also extended across party and regional lines. He is associated with prominent political figures, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and has earned respect within various political circles across Nigeria.

TIME FOR AN OWО POLITICAL COALITION

The present moment calls for a broad Owo coalition—one capable of bringing together politicians across party lines, traditional stakeholders, elders, professionals, youth and other well-meaning sons and daughters of Owo.

The objective should be simple: to develop and pursue an Owo Agenda that places the interests and aspirations of Owo people at the centre of our political engagement.

Our history has shown what determined leadership can achieve.

Chief Adekunle Ajasin played a significant role in advancing the political relevance of Owo during his lifetime. The late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu also left his mark on Owo through his political career and development initiatives.

Today, many people feel that Owo’s political house needs renewed unity, strategic thinking and purposeful leadership. But it is not too late.

The coming elections provide an opportunity for Owo people to rethink, reorganise and strategically position themselves for the future.

This should not be about political party alone. It should be about capacity, character, competence, representation and the ability to advance the legitimate interests of our people.

OWO MUST HAVE A VOICE AT THE SENATE

The question before us is straightforward: when critical national conversations concerning the future of our communities, including possible state creation, take place, will Owo have a strong and effective voice at the Senate?

Akoko communities are already strategically positioning themselves for the future. If discussions around the creation of Ose State or other constitutional restructuring initiatives gain momentum, effective representation will matter.

This is why Owo must begin to think ahead.

We need representatives who understand our history, know our challenges, appreciate our aspirations and are prepared to speak for our people at the appropriate national platforms.

The time to strategise is now. The time to unite is now. The time for Owo to have a stronger voice is now.

PRINCE NEKAN: MY BROTHER, MY FRIEND AND MY CHOICE FOR THIS CRUSADE

Prince Adenekan, Omo Oba, my childhood friend, my brother, my brother-in-law and my own paddy, I may not be able to give you silver and gold on this journey, but you can be assured that my prayers—and those of Princess Defunke—are with you.

I trust your capability. I know your passion for the development of our people, and I know how deeply you care about the future of Owo Kingdom.

Even as recently as yesterday, when you called me, our conversation was once again about the progress and development of Owo. That alone tells me where your heart is.

May Almighty God grant you success in this political journey. May the ancestors of our land guide you and may your efforts produce the desired result.

You have spent years participating in politics, not merely for personal enrichment or the accumulation of wealth, but because of your desire to serve and contribute to the development of your people.

I know your role in the political activities that led to the formation and growth of the Labour Party during the Mimiko era. I know the sacrifices you have made, and I know that despite the challenges, you have not allowed disappointment to extinguish your commitment to public service.

Prince Adenekan Olateru-Olagbegi, this is another chapter in your journey.

May Almighty God crown your efforts with success, strengthen you throughout this race and grant you the opportunity to serve.
