Grassroots Mobilisation Begins Tuesday, September 29 for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid and APC Candidates

The Akure South Local Government Chapter of the Opomulero Group/Movement will tomorrow, Tuesday, September 29, 2026, commence its ward-by-ward meetings, with Ward 2 hosting the inaugural engagement.

The meeting will be formally declared open by the Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon. Donald Gbenga Fasua, who also serves as the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ondo State.

The commencement of the ward meetings marks a new phase in Opomulero’s grassroots mobilisation strategy in Akure South, with the movement taking its organisational activities directly to the wards and communities.

The programme is designed to strengthen the movement’s grassroots structure, improve communication among members, mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, and support the success of APC candidates at the forthcoming elections.

The Director-General of Opomulero Group/Movement, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael, will lead the movement’s leadership and coordinators to the Ward 2 meeting.

The inaugural engagement is expected to bring together ward executives, women leaders, youth leaders, elders, coordinators and other members of the movement for direct interaction, mobilisation and organisational strengthening.

The Akure South Local Government Coordinator of Opomulero, Chief Michael Ilesanmi, said the commencement of the ward meetings reflects the movement’s determination to deepen its presence at the grassroots and ensure that members are fully connected with its programmes and objectives.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, the DG, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael, urged members across Akure South, particularly those in Ward 2, to participate actively in the inaugural meeting.

He said the decision to begin the meetings at ward level was deliberate, stressing that “a strong political structure must begin from the ward.”

According to him, the strength of any grassroots political movement depends on its ability to maintain regular contact with its members, listen to their concerns, coordinate effectively and build structures that reach every community.

The Ward 2 meeting will therefore serve as the starting point for a wider ward-by-ward engagement across Akure South Local Government, with subsequent meetings expected to extend the mobilisation programme to other wards.
