The attention of the Opomulero Movement has been drawn to the laughable and intellectually hollow statement issued by the Ondo State PDP, a party that has once again demonstrated that it lacks both the moral standing and intellectual depth to engage in constructive opposition.

At best, the statement reeks of what can only be described as an “F9 students’ elite at work”—a poorly reasoned, contradiction-filled attempt to sound intelligent while further exposing the PDP’s chronic failure in both governance and opposition.

It is both ironic and insulting that a party whose tenure was defined by waste, insecurity, and the institutionalization of thuggery now seeks to lecture a performing government on urgency and responsibility. During their time in office, the PDP prioritized political patronage over policy, empowered street violence over state security, and left behind no tangible legacy worthy of emulation.

The same PDP that is suddenly concerned about security today presided over years in which communities were abandoned, and thugs were elevated into instruments of political relevance. There were no coherent strategies, no sustainable investments, and certainly no transparency in their operations. Ondo people have not forgotten.

On the issue of the Executive Council meeting, it is important to state that governance is not measured by the frequency of meetings, but by the quality and impact of decisions taken. The administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has consistently demonstrated a results-driven approach, focusing on practical solutions rather than the optics of endless meetings that produce no outcomes—as was the hallmark of PDP governance.

Their criticism of the ongoing healthcare expansion further exposes their shallow understanding of governance. Only a failed political establishment would oppose the simultaneous development of new infrastructure while upgrading existing facilities. The approval for modern hospital projects across key locations in Ondo State is a bold and strategic intervention aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery—not the cosmetic governance the PDP was known for.

On transparency, the PDP lacks the credibility to raise such concerns. This is a party whose years in government were characterized by opaque dealings, unaccounted funds, and abandoned projects scattered across the state. They cannot suddenly reinvent themselves as champions of accountability.

What the PDP describes as “skepticism” is nothing more than fear of a government that is steadily correcting years of systemic failure. Unlike the PDP, this administration is not in the business of noise-making, but in delivering measurable progress.

The people of Ondo State can clearly see the difference: a past defined by excuses, thuggery, and stagnation under the PDP, and a present anchored on rebuilding, strategic planning, and responsible governance under Governor Aiyedatiwa.

The PDP should first account for its disastrous years in power before attempting to play opposition. Until then, their statements will continue to be received as what they truly are—empty noise from a discredited political platform.

Hon. Olasupo Olakunori
Director General, Opomulero Movement
