The Director General of the Opomulero Movement, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori, has described the Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Omowunmi Isaac, as the most disciplined and result-driven Commissioner for Finance the state has ever produced.

According to the DG, at a time when public financial management across many states is often challenged by opacity and weak accountability, Omowunmi Isaac has distinguished herself through uncommon discipline, integrity, and a firm commitment to transparency.

“Before her emergence, Ondo State’s financial system was weighed down by leakages, poor accountability, and weak structures that allowed public funds to be mismanaged. Today, that narrative has changed significantly,” the statement read.

Hon. Olakunori noted that under her leadership, the Ministry of Finance has undergone a quiet but powerful transformation, driven by systems that prioritize accountability over discretion and discipline over convenience.

He emphasized that every kobo is now properly tracked, budgetary processes are guided by actual needs rather than influence, and financial operations have become more structured, predictable, and transparent.

“Her approach is not cosmetic; it is systemic. She has blocked loopholes that previously enabled ghost workers, inflated contracts, and fictitious payments. This has not only reduced financial leakages but has also improved the state’s internally generated revenue through efficiency and control,” he added.

The DG further stated that the visible development across Ondo State — including ongoing infrastructure projects, improved public services, and renewed investor confidence — is a direct reflection of prudent financial management.

“From Akure to Owo, Ore to Okitipupa, projects are no longer abandoned. Funds are getting to where they are meant to go. This is the real dividend of discipline in governance,” he said.

Hon. Olakunori also commended her role in strengthening the financial credibility of the state, which has contributed to attracting major investment initiatives, including the Sunshine Infrastructure Joint Venture and the proposed Ilaje Free Trade Zone.

He stressed that such achievements are only possible in an environment where transparency and accountability are taken seriously.

While acknowledging that reforms often attract resistance, the DG maintained that constructive criticism must be based on facts and not sentiments.

“Discipline will always unsettle those who benefit from disorder. However, the people of Ondo State can see the difference, and the results speak clearly,” he noted.

The Opomulero Movement therefore urged all stakeholders to support and sustain reforms that promote accountability and responsible governance.

“In Omowunmi Isaac, Ondo State has found not just a public official, but a standard-bearer for financial discipline. Her legacy is already taking shape, and history will be kind to her,” the statement concluded.
