The Opomulero Movement has taken note of the growing discourse surrounding the political positioning of distinguished Senators representing Ondo Central and Ondo North, particularly in relation to party structure and the adoption of consensus within the APC in Ondo State.
As a movement committed to progressive ideals and party discipline, we find it necessary to state clearly that the strength of any political party lies not in individual ambition, but in the supremacy of its structure, collective decisions, and long-term strategic direction.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains fully within his rights as the leader of the party in Ondo State to guide political processes in a manner that ensures unity, stability, and electoral victory. His approach to consensus is neither arbitrary nor exclusionary, but a deliberate effort to harmonize interests and prevent avoidable internal conflicts.
While Senators Adegbonmire and Ipinsagba have made their contributions, it is important to emphasize that no individual is greater than the party. Political growth demands adaptability, respect for internal mechanisms, and alignment with the broader vision of leadership.
Consensus is not a denial of democracy—it is a refinement of it, when driven by consultation and the collective will of stakeholders. Attempts to frame it as imposition only serve to heat up the polity and create unnecessary divisions.
The focus at this critical time should be on strengthening the APC in Ondo State, consolidating on existing gains, and preparing for future electoral success, rather than engaging in narratives that undermine party cohesion.
