The Director General of Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori, has commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for the commencement of the payment of over N2.6 billion in gratuities to retired local government and primary school workers who retired in 2015.
According to the DG, the payment is another clear demonstration of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners, as well as evidence of compassionate and responsible leadership that prioritises the well-being of citizens.
Hon. Olakunori noted that many retirees dedicated the best years of their lives to serving Ondo State and deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labour without unnecessary delays. He described the payment as a fulfilment of government’s moral and statutory obligation to those who served the state diligently.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa has once again shown that governance is about people. The decision to release over N2.6 billion for the payment of gratuities is not only commendable but also a reflection of prudent financial management and a leadership that values the sacrifices of workers and pensioners.
“The fact that gratuity arrears for 2012, 2013 and 2014 have already been cleared, while the 2015 batch is now being paid, demonstrates consistency, sincerity and a genuine commitment to improving the welfare of retired public servants.
“This development has restored hope to many retirees and further strengthens public confidence in the administration’s resolve to fulfil its obligations to workers, both serving and retired,” he said.
The DG further applauded the governor for sustaining the prompt payment of monthly pensions and for maintaining industrial harmony in the state through worker-friendly policies.
Hon. Olakunori urged pensioners and workers to continue supporting the administration, expressing confidence that Governor Aiyedatiwa would fulfil his promise of clearing all outstanding gratuities and further strengthening the welfare of the people under the OUR EASE Agenda.
He described the development as another milestone in the governor’s efforts to build a more caring, prosperous and inclusive Ondo State where the contributions of workers are valued and rewarded.
