Today, I proudly led thousands of members of the Opomulero Group to join the peaceful protest led by the Ondo State Commissioner for women affiars Hon. Seun Bosede Osamaye, alongside Ondo State APC women leader Hon. (Mrs.) Iji Aiyeola, to register our strong opposition to what we consider the unjust overturning of the will of APC members by the National Working Committee (NWC).
Our protest was not against the APC as a party. Rather, it was a demonstration in defence of justice, internal democracy, and the sanctity of the votes freely cast by party members during the primary process.
When party members make their choice, that choice deserves respect. Decisions that are perceived as replacing the clear winners with other aspirants risk undermining members’ confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.
The APC has always stood for fairness, justice, and the rule of law. We believe that these principles must guide every decision of the party at all levels.
Our message to the National Working Committee is simple: listen to the voice of Ondo State. Respect the mandate of party members. A decision that alienates loyal members and grassroots supporters could have serious political consequences ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The thousands of Opomulero members who participated in today’s peaceful protest demonstrated that the people of Ondo State are united in demanding fairness and justice. Our loyalty to the APC remains unwavering, but true loyalty includes speaking out when members believe an injustice has occurred.
We remain firmly behind Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and will continue to support every legitimate effort aimed at protecting the unity, credibility, and electoral strength of our great party.
