The Director General of the Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael (DG Opomulero), has called on security agencies and the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs to ensure the immediate investigation and arrest of the father identified as Ibon, an indigene of Owo residing in Unaun, Owo, over the alleged abuse of his 7-year-old daughter.

According to reports, the young girl was allegedly subjected to severe abuse over an incident of bedwetting. If established, such an act is inhumane, unacceptable, and a gross violation of the rights of the child. No child deserves to suffer violence, intimidation, or torture under any circumstance.

DG Opomulero highly commended the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Seun Osamaye, for her prompt response to the reported incident and for her tireless commitment to protecting the rights, welfare, and dignity of women and children across Ondo State. He described her as an active, compassionate, and responsive Commissioner whose swift intervention demonstrates the importance Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration places on the protection of vulnerable members of society.

He also praised Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for appointing capable, competent, and compassionate individuals into key positions in his administration. According to DG Opomulero, the Commissioner’s prompt handling of this matter is further evidence that the Governor’s appointments are based on merit, capacity, and a genuine commitment to serving the people of Ondo State.

He appealed to the Ministry of Women Affairs to continue working closely with His Royal Highness, the Olunaun of Unaun, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant child protection authorities to ensure a thorough investigation, the protection of the child, and the prosecution of anyone found culpable in accordance with the law.

DG Opomulero emphasized that child abuse, whether physical, emotional, or psychological, must never be tolerated. Parents and guardians have a duty to nurture, protect, and guide their children—not subject them to violence.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report all cases of child abuse to the appropriate authorities, stressing that protecting children is a collective responsibility and that every child deserves to grow up in a safe, loving, and secure environment.
