The Director General of the Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael (DG Opomulero), has stated that he has no personal grievance or political hostility against the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO).

According to him, his position has always been guided by the principles of democracy, equity, fairness, and the political future of Ondo State.

“I have nothing against Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. He is a serving Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I wish him success in his national assignment. My concern is that after Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa successfully completes eight years in office, Akure should be given the opportunity to produce the next governor in the interest of fairness and equity.”

DG Opomulero expressed concern over what he described as the premature promotion of governorship ambitions while Governor Aiyedatiwa is still serving the mandate freely given to him by the people of Ondo State.

“It is not healthy for our democracy when political actors begin promoting succession ambitions while the governor is still focused on delivering his mandate. Every well-meaning stakeholder should support Governor Aiyedatiwa until the completion of his tenure. When the contest for succession officially begins, every aspirant should be free to test his popularity, strength, capacity, and acceptability before the people.”

He further stated that those already pushing governorship campaigns at this stage are inadvertently undermining the confidence reposed in the governor by the people of Ondo State.

“The people elected Governor Aiyedatiwa to govern, not to spend public resources appeasing politicians. Those complaining that he is not sharing money among political leaders should remember that his primary responsibility is to develop Ondo State and improve the welfare of the people.”

DG Opomulero noted that Governor Aiyedatiwa has continued to demonstrate commitment to governance through employment opportunities, infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare, agriculture, and other people-oriented programmes.

“Within his first year in office, Governor Aiyedatiwa has provided employment opportunities for over 3,000 people across different sectors. His administration remains focused on development rather than politics.”

He reiterated that the Opomulero Group has consistently advocated for good governance and will continue to support any government that delivers democratic dividends to the people.

“Our commitment has always been to good governance, development, and the progress of Ondo State. We will continue to encourage leaders to focus on service delivery while asking politicians to respect democratic processes and allow Governor Aiyedatiwa to concentrate on fulfilling the mandate entrusted to him by the people.”

Signed:

Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael
Director General, Opomulero Group
