STOP THE 2028 DISTRACTION; GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA IS FOCUSED ON GOVERNANCE, AKURE SOUTH SHOULD PREPARE FOR ITS TURN AFTER HIS CONSTITUTIONAL TENURE — DG OPOMULERO

The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to comments by Mr. Kayode Mogbojuri alleging that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has begun making promises regarding the 2028 governorship race.

These claims are speculative and unnecessary. At a time when the Governor is concentrating on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Ondo State, attempts to drag the political space into premature succession debates serve no useful purpose.

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is constitutionally entitled to complete his tenure, and his administration remains focused on improving the lives of the people through infrastructural development, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare, economic growth, and other people-oriented programmes.

The people of Ondo State are discerning enough to separate political propaganda from measurable performance. Leadership should be evaluated by service, integrity, and tangible results—not by rumours or social media speculation.

As a matter of political opinion, I do not believe Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo represents the type of leadership Ondo State needs at this stage of its political development. Every aspirant has the constitutional right to pursue political ambition, but such ambitions should be guided by democratic principles, respect for institutions, and the collective interest of Ondo State.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has well-established democratic processes for selecting its candidates. No individual can determine the party’s future candidates outside those constitutional processes.

Furthermore, it is my firmly held political opinion that after Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa completes his constitutionally permitted tenure, fairness, equity, and political justice require that the governorship should shift to Akure South. Akure South has made significant contributions to the political development of Ondo State and is prepared to provide capable, experienced, and visionary leadership when the appropriate constitutional time arrives.

I therefore urge all APC members and the good people of Ondo State to remain focused on supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa as he continues to deliver purposeful governance. The time for 2028 politics will come, but today, our priority must remain the progress, stability, and development of Ondo State.

Signed:

Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael
Director General, Opomulero Group (DG Opomulero)
