The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to the interview granted by Barrister Ajisafe on Adaba 88.9 FM at 10:00 a.m., during which he launched a series of unwarranted attacks against the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
With due respect, Barrister Ajisafe’s outburst was nothing more than a politically motivated rant disguised as public commentary. Anyone who expects Governor Aiyedatiwa to solve every challenge confronting Ondo State within such a short period clearly ignores the realities of governance. The problems affecting the judiciary, infrastructure, and public institutions did not begin with this administration, nor can they be resolved overnight.
Ondo State has been governed by distinguished leaders, including the late Chief Adebayo Adefarati, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, and the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN. Every administration made valuable contributions while inevitably leaving challenges for succeeding governments. It is therefore unfair, intellectually dishonest, and politically mischievous to heap decades of accumulated challenges solely on Governor Aiyedatiwa.
On the issue of the judiciary, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN, remains one of Nigeria’s foremost legal minds. If Barrister Ajisafe genuinely possesses constructive ideas for judicial reforms, the appropriate approach is to engage the Attorney General professionally instead of resorting to sensational attacks on radio. Strong institutions are built through constructive engagement, sound policy, and collaboration—not media theatrics.
Judicial reforms cannot be achieved in a day. They require legislation, funding, improved infrastructure, technological innovation, and sustained institutional support. Governor Aiyedatiwa has already demonstrated his commitment by constructing and renovating courtrooms, introducing electronic filing systems, modernising judicial processes, and implementing several initiatives aimed at strengthening the administration of justice across Ondo State.
Even more astonishing was Barrister Ajisafe’s admission during the interview when he agreed with the programme moderator that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa had been recognised and honoured by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for his administration’s commitment to strengthening the judiciary. As a member of the same professional body, one would have expected him to acknowledge and respect the assessment of his own association. It is contradictory and unfortunate that after admitting the Governor’s recognition by the NBA, he still attempted to discredit the same administration. Such inconsistency exposes the interview as politically motivated rather than an objective evaluation of judicial reforms.
We also challenge Barrister Ajisafe to substantiate his allegation regarding a magistrate who allegedly fell from an Okada while carrying out official duties. Serious public allegations must be supported by verifiable evidence. Responsible public discourse should be driven by facts, not speculation or political rhetoric.
Furthermore, Barrister Ajisafe’s comments on the internal affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State were equally misleading. During the interview, he openly admitted that he is an aggrieved member of the APC, thereby confirming that his analysis is influenced by personal grievances rather than objective facts.
More revealing was his assertion that the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, sponsored about twenty pressure groups to orchestrate the internal challenges within the Ondo State APC. These remain mere allegations unsupported by any credible evidence. Even if such groups exist, they cannot compare with the grassroots reach, credibility, and organisational strength of the Opomulero Group.
The Opomulero Group wishes to state categorically that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu built a formidable political structure in Ondo State and across Nigeria over several decades through consistency, sacrifice, and strategic leadership. To suggest that the President’s political fortunes in Ondo State depend on the influence of a single individual is to underestimate the enduring political foundation painstakingly built by President Tinubu himself.
Our position remains unequivocal: with or without Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa possesses the political capacity, grassroots acceptance, and proven leadership required to deliver Ondo State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. A Governor who led the APC to victory across all eighteen local government areas of Ondo State cannot be politically diminished by media propaganda or the bitterness of disgruntled politicians.
We equally reaffirm that the current Ondo State APC Chairman emerged through the party’s constitutional and democratic processes and remains the duly elected chairman of the party. Any attempt to delegitimise his leadership outside the party’s constitutional framework is both futile and irresponsible.
Barrister Ajisafe’s repeated claim that he is working for President Tinubu’s re-election is equally unconvincing. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu became one of Nigeria’s most influential democratic leaders and political strategists long before Barrister Ajisafe attained political relevance. Those genuinely committed to the President’s success should be promoting unity, discipline, and stability within the APC rather than deepening internal divisions through inflammatory media appearances.
Unfortunately, despite the length of his interview, Barrister Ajisafe failed to present any concrete facts capable of discrediting the numerous reforms, infrastructural projects, and developmental initiatives being implemented by Governor Aiyedatiwa. His inability to support his assertions with verifiable evidence exposed the interview as nothing more than a desperate political exercise intended to mislead the public.
The Opomulero Group therefore urges the good people of Ondo State to disregard Barrister Ajisafe’s politically coloured submissions and remain steadfast in their support for the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as it continues to deliver good governance, institutional reforms, infrastructural development, and sustainable progress for the benefit of all citizens.
Signed
Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael
Director General, Opomulero Group
