The Director General of the Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael, has called on the people of Akure South, Akure North, and Ifedore Local Government Areas to remain vigilant, united, and politically conscious in protecting what he described as the Akure-speaking people’s historic opportunity to produce the next Governor of Ondo State after Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa completes his constitutional eight-year tenure.

According to DG Opomulero, now is not the time for the Akure-speaking people to trade away their collective political future in exchange for temporary appointments, patronage, or what is commonly referred to as the “national cake.” He maintained that political offices in Abuja are temporary, but the opportunity to produce the Governor of Ondo State is a historic aspiration that must be protected.

He stressed that Governor Aiyedatiwa deserves the support of every well-meaning citizen to complete his mandate and consolidate the remarkable developmental strides already being recorded across the state. He added that no individual ambition should distract the people from supporting a government that is delivering visible projects and improving the welfare of the people.

DG Opomulero cautioned against premature succession campaigns capable of dividing the Akure-speaking communities. He urged political leaders, traditional rulers, professionals, youths, and other stakeholders in Akure South, Akure North, and Ifedore to place the collective interest of the people above personal political calculations.

He emphasized that unity remains the greatest political strength of the Akure-speaking people and warned that disunity could weaken their chances when the time comes to legitimately seek the governorship after Governor Aiyedatiwa’s tenure.

“The future of Akure must never be exchanged for temporary political benefits. History has shown that communities that remain united and strategic are those that eventually achieve their political aspirations. We must think beyond today’s appointments and protect tomorrow’s opportunities,” he said.

DG Opomulero concluded by urging the Akure-speaking people to remain steadfast in supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration while preserving their unity and political relevance for the future. He insisted that development, strategic thinking, and unity—not premature political ambition—should define the politics of the Akure axis.
