Opomulero Commends Fasua’s Grassroots Intervention, Calls for More People-Centred Development

The Director-General of Opomulero Group/Movement, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael, has commended the ₦80 million empowerment initiative and drainage projects associated with Fasua, describing the interventions as a significant contribution to grassroots development in Akure South.

In a statement, the DG emphasized that meaningful development must go beyond political promises and translate into tangible benefits for residents, particularly through economic empowerment and infrastructure that addresses everyday community challenges.

According to Hon. Olakunori, empowerment programmes that support residents and drainage projects that improve environmental conditions demonstrate the importance of directing resources toward the needs of the people.

“The development of Akure South requires leaders and stakeholders who understand the realities of our communities. Empowerment creates opportunities for people to improve their livelihoods, while drainage infrastructure helps address challenges affecting residents. These are areas that deserve sustained attention.”

The Opomulero DG noted that the reported ₦80 million empowerment and drainage interventions should be viewed within the broader objective of promoting inclusive development, supporting vulnerable residents, and improving community infrastructure.

He further called for transparency, effective implementation, and equitable distribution of empowerment opportunities to ensure that intended beneficiaries derive meaningful value from the initiative.

“Akure South deserves development that reaches the grassroots. We must encourage initiatives that put the people first, strengthen local communities, and contribute to sustainable progress,” he stated.

Hon. Olakunori reaffirmed Opomulero’s commitment to supporting development-oriented initiatives and encouraging public officeholders and stakeholders to prioritize the welfare of residents.

He maintained that sustainable development requires collaboration, accountability, and a consistent focus on the needs of the people.
