THE CONSTITUTION WILL SPEAK AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME; GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA REMAINS FOCUSED ON GOVERNANCE, NOT DISTRACTIONS — DG OPOMULERO

The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to the article authored by Otunba Femi Balogun on the eligibility of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to contest the 2028 governorship election.

While we respect the constitutional right of every Nigerian to express opinions and interpret the law, we must emphasize that the views expressed by the author remain personal opinions and not the final position of the law.

The issue of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s eligibility is already a subject of judicial consideration, and it is trite that only the Supreme Court, being the highest court in the land, can provide the final and authoritative interpretation of the relevant constitutional provisions.

It is therefore premature and misleading for anyone to present a Federal High Court judgment, which is already under appeal, as the final legal position. Our democracy is founded on due process, and every citizen, including Governor Aiyedatiwa, has the constitutional right to exhaust all legal remedies available to him.

Those attempting to create political tension over a matter that is still before the courts are merely engaging in unnecessary speculation and diverting attention from the impressive developmental strides being recorded by the Aiyedatiwa administration.

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was overwhelmingly elected by the people of Ondo State in November 2024, winning in all eighteen local government areas of the state. The mandate freely given to him by the people is to govern, deliver development, and improve the welfare of the citizens, and that is exactly what he is focused on doing.

The Governor has repeatedly demonstrated his commitment to infrastructural development, economic growth, workers’ welfare, and good governance. Rather than being distracted by premature political debates about 2028, the administration remains committed to fulfilling its promises to the people of Ondo State.

We also remind political actors and commentators that constitutional democracy thrives on the rule of law, not media trials or speculative interpretations. The courts will ultimately determine the legal issues at the appropriate time, and all parties must respect that process.

For now, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains constitutionally elected, fully focused on governance, and determined to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to the good people of Ondo State.

The people of Ondo State desire development, peace, and progress—not needless political distractions.
