The Director General of the Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori, has raised concerns over what he describes as threats to his safety following the group’s call for justice regarding the outcome of the APC National Assembly primary process in Ondo Central.
Hon. Olakunori alleged that he has received threatening phone calls and messages after the Opomulero Group announced its intention to embark on a peaceful protest over what it considers an injustice in the primary process.
According to him, the alleged threats came through the phone numbers 08020562546 and 08035287445, which he claims are being used by Tony Mayowa, whom he identifies as a supporter of Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire. He called on security agencies to investigate the origin of the calls and messages and determine those responsible.
“I have committed no offence other than peacefully demanding justice, fairness, and respect for the democratic wishes of party members. No one should be threatened for exercising the constitutional right to advocate peacefully for what they believe is right,” he said.
Hon. Olakunori called on the relevant security agencies to urgently investigate the alleged threats, including the communications received from the phone numbers 08020562546 and 08035287445, and ensure the safety of all citizens exercising their constitutional rights.
He emphasized that the Opomulero Group remains committed to peaceful, lawful, and democratic engagement.
“Our struggle is against injustice, not against any individual. We believe the votes and voices of party members must be respected. We will continue to pursue justice through lawful and peaceful means, and we will not be intimidated from exercising our constitutional rights.”
He urged all political actors and their supporters to embrace peace, avoid inflammatory conduct, and allow the appropriate authorities to address any complaints through lawful channels.
