The Director General of the Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael (DG Opomulero), has described recent comments by Barrister Magbojuri Kayode suggesting that the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is destined to succeed Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as premature political opinion that should not be presented as settled reality.

According to DG Opomulero, Ondo State is governed by democratic principles, and no individual or group can determine the outcome of a future governorship election through public declarations.

He maintained that Ondo Central remains politically conscious and cannot be ignored in any discussion about the state’s future leadership.

«”Those already presenting Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as Governor Aiyedatiwa’s successor are getting ahead of the people of Ondo State. Leadership is determined by the electorate through a democratic process, not by media pronouncements.”»

DG Opomulero urged Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to remain focused on governance and continue delivering on his mandate, rather than being distracted by premature succession debates.

He also called on all political actors and commentators to exercise restraint and ensure that their public statements promote peace, unity, and respect for democratic institutions.

DG Opomulero further appealed to the relevant security agencies to monitor public commentary capable of heightening political tension and, where necessary, invite individuals—including Barrister Magbojuri Kayode—to remind them of the need to conduct political discourse responsibly and in a manner that safeguards the peace and stability of Ondo State, in accordance with the law.

He reaffirmed that the Opomulero Group remains committed to supporting Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration while advocating peaceful, issue-based politics and respect for the democratic choice of the people.

Signed:

Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael
Director General, Opomulero Group
