IRETIDOLA AKINROWO’S ARTICLE IS POLITICAL PROPAGANDA; GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA WILL COMPLETE EIGHT YEARS, AFTER WHICH AKURE’S TURN SHOULD BE RESPECTED — DG OPOMULERO

The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to the recent article authored by Iretidola Akinrowo, in which he attempted to project the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO), as the inevitable next Governor of Ondo State.

Ordinarily, every citizen is entitled to his opinion. However, when opinion is deliberately dressed as political fact with the intention of misleading the public, it becomes necessary to set the records straight.

No one is disputing Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s contributions as Minister of Interior or his political relevance within the APC. Nevertheless, delivering electoral victories in one local government or one federal constituency does not automatically translate into a statewide governorship mandate.

Ondo State politics has always been guided by equity, justice, inclusiveness, and the collective will of the people—not media propaganda or carefully crafted political narratives.

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was constitutionally elected by the people of Ondo State and has every legitimate right to complete his constitutional eight-year tenure. Rather than engaging in premature succession campaigns, political actors should support the Governor in consolidating the developmental strides currently being witnessed across the state.

It is also important to remind Mr. Iretidola Akinrowo that no part of Ondo State has an exclusive right to the governorship. Power belongs to the people, and leadership should reflect fairness and political balance.

After Governor Aiyedatiwa completes his constitutional eight years, Akure has every legitimate right to present qualified sons and daughters for the governorship. This is not a demand born out of sentiment but one rooted in equity, justice, and the long-standing political realities of Ondo State.

Attempts to create the impression that the governorship has already been reserved for a particular individual amount to political propaganda and an unnecessary distraction from governance.

We therefore urge Iretidola Akinrowo to allow facts to prevail over political sentiment. The next Governor of Ondo State will not emerge through newspaper articles or media campaigns but through the democratic decision of the people when the appropriate time comes.

For now, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa deserves the support of all well-meaning citizens to complete his constitutional mandate and continue delivering good governance to the people of Ondo State.

Signed:

Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael
Director General, Opomulero Group
