The Director-General of Opomulero Group/Movement, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael, has described Barrister Mogbojuri Kayode’s latest attack on Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as nothing more than a politically motivated attempt to diminish a performing Governor while creating unnecessary publicity for Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Mogbojuri Kayode asked whether Governor Aiyedatiwa thinks at all because the administration is establishing a College of Education and a School of Nursing instead of a Maritime University or Institute of Oceanography.

My question to Barrister Mogbojuri is simple: when did constructive criticism become an excuse to insult the intelligence of a sitting Governor?

Governor Aiyedatiwa does not need lessons in governance from people who have already made their political preferences known.

If Barrister Mogbojuri genuinely believes in the blue economy, let him explain why he thinks Ondo State cannot simultaneously invest in education, healthcare training, technical manpower and the enormous opportunities presented by the coastal economy.

A College of Education is not a wasted opportunity. A School of Nursing is not a wasted opportunity. Training teachers and producing qualified healthcare professionals are investments in human capital.

Ondo State needs teachers. Ondo State needs nurses. Ondo State needs doctors, technologists, engineers, maritime professionals and skilled young people across different sectors.

Government does not have to choose one sector and abandon every other sector simply because somebody wants to turn the blue economy into a political campaign slogan.

And let us be clear: the Governor is not required to implement every suggestion made by every political commentator.

Barrister Mogbojuri should also stop presenting the promotion of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as though it automatically invalidates every policy of Governor Aiyedatiwa.

We have nothing against Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo personally. But if the intention is to promote his political ambition, then let it be done honestly. Do not attack Governor Aiyedatiwa and disguise political succession as policy analysis.

Governor Aiyedatiwa inherited a state with enormous challenges and has demonstrated that he understands the responsibilities of leadership.

This is a Governor who is addressing workers’ welfare, clearing inherited obligations, strengthening healthcare, investing in infrastructure, supporting education and attracting investment into the state.

His administration has also demonstrated interest in the coastal and industrial potential of Ondo State, including the development of the Olokola axis and other investment opportunities.

So, Barrister Mogbojuri should tell Ondo people specifically: what exactly has Governor Aiyedatiwa done that constitutes a “wasted opportunity”?

Is educating teachers a wasted opportunity?

Is producing nurses a wasted opportunity?

Is strengthening the healthcare system a wasted opportunity?

Or is every government project now to be declared useless simply because it does not fit into the political narrative being promoted by those projecting another politician?

This is politics, not an examination of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s intelligence.

I served as a Special Assistant on Political Matters under the administration of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, and I understand the difference between genuine policy criticism and political positioning.

If Barrister Mogbojuri wants to campaign for Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, he should campaign openly. If he wants to discuss the blue economy, let us have an intellectual debate about it. But he should not insult Governor Aiyedatiwa’s intelligence simply because the Governor has refused to govern according to somebody else’s political script.

Governor Aiyedatiwa is thinking.

He is thinking about the child who needs a qualified teacher. He is thinking about the pregnant woman who needs a trained nurse. He is thinking about the young graduate who needs a job. He is thinking about roads, healthcare, education, investment and the overall development of Ondo State.

That is governance.

And when the time comes to evaluate this administration, Ondo people will judge Governor Aiyedatiwa by what he has delivered—not by the volume of attacks coming from political commentators.

Barrister Mogbojuri Kayode should therefore focus less on asking whether Governor Aiyedatiwa thinks and more on answering a question of his own:

Is this really about the blue economy, or is it about promoting Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for 2027?

Ondo people deserve an honest answer.
