The Director General of Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori (DG Opomulero), has strongly condemned the misleading and politically motivated statement issued by the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the recent APC State Congress and the leadership of Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Executive Governor of Ondo State.
The PDP’s press release is nothing more than an attempt to distract the people from the remarkable progress and stability that Governor Aiyedatiwa has continued to bring to the state.
First and foremost, the recently concluded Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State was largely peaceful and successful, producing a new leadership under Babatunde Kolawole as State Chairman.
The exercise demonstrated the internal strength and democratic structure of the ruling party. Isolated disagreements, which are normal in democratic processes across the world, cannot erase the overall success of the congress.
It is unfortunate that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which left behind years of underdevelopment in Ondo State, now seeks cheap political relevance through unfounded accusations.
Contrary to the PDP’s claims, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has continued to demonstrate unwavering commitment to governance, security, and development across the state. Under his leadership, Ondo State remains one of the most secure states in the South-West, with strengthened collaboration between conventional security agencies and the state security outfit, Amotekun Corps, which recently recruited about 500 additional personnel to further safeguard communities.
In the education sector, the government has also employed over 2,000 teachers to strengthen public schools and improve the quality of learning for our children. These are clear indicators of a government focused on people-centered development rather than political distractions.
Furthermore, Governor Aiyedatiwa has continued to pursue economic expansion through strategic investments in the private sector, including the ongoing development initiatives around the Ondo Deep Seaport and the advancement of the state’s vast Ondo Bitumen Deposits potential, which will create jobs and boost the state’s economy.
The administration is also making measurable progress in healthcare delivery and tourism development, ensuring that the people of Ondo State benefit from improved infrastructure and services.
The PDP’s attempt to portray the Governor as distracted is therefore both dishonest and laughable. Governance and party administration are not mutually exclusive responsibilities in a democratic system. Leaders across the world manage governance while their political parties also conduct internal democratic processes.
The people of Ondo State are politically aware and can clearly see the difference between responsible leadership and opposition propaganda.
Hon. Olasupo Olakunori therefore urges the PDP to stop politicizing sensitive issues such as security and instead support constructive efforts aimed at sustaining peace, development, and progress in Ondo State under the capable leadership of Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
