Court Ruling: No Cause for Celebration by Enemies of Ondo State Government — DG Opomulero

Share

The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to the reactions of some opposition elements attempting to misrepresent the outcome of today’s court proceedings concerning the eligibility of Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to contest for another term as Governor of Ondo State.

For the avoidance of doubt, the ruling delivered today does not in any way invalidate or disqualify Governor Aiyedatiwa from seeking re-election. It is important to clearly state that there is a significant difference between an interlocutory ruling and a final judgment.

What occurred in court today was simply the dismissal of the Governor’s interlocutory appeal challenging the grant of a Motion of Amendment earlier filed by the claimant at the lower court. This is purely procedural and does not determine the substance of the case.

The substantive suit, which seeks to challenge the eligibility of Governor Aiyedatiwa, is still pending before the Federal High Court and has not yet been determined. Therefore, there is no final judgment from any court of competent jurisdiction that deprives Governor Aiyedatiwa of his constitutional right to seek re-election.

It is therefore misleading and mischievous for political opponents to celebrate or spread false narratives suggesting otherwise. Such reactions only expose their desperation and wishful thinking.

We urge the public to disregard these deliberate distortions and remain confident in the judicial process.

Governor Aiyedatiwa remains focused on governance and the continued development of Ondo State, while respecting the rule of law and due process.

No amount of propaganda or premature celebration can substitute for the final decision of the court.

Signed:
Hon. Olasupo Olakunori
Director General, Opomulero Group
Ondo State
