The Director General of Opomulero has called for the immediate rotation of the Ondo North Senatorial seat to Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, declaring that “16 years is enough” for the current power arrangement.
The DG argued that equity, fairness, and political justice demand a shift, noting that no democracy thrives where power is monopolized by a single axis at the expense of others.
According to the Opomulero DG, Owo/Ose has played a critical role in the political development of Ondo State but has not received commensurate representation at the Senate level in recent cycles.
He stressed that:
The Ondo North Senatorial District is made up of diverse blocs, including Akoko and Owo/Ose.
Sustained dominance by one bloc undermines inclusiveness.
Rotation is a tested democratic principle that ensures every zone has a sense of belonging.
The DG further strengthened his position by highlighting the undeniable electoral value of Owo/Ose, particularly Owo, noting that its voting strength cannot be underestimated in any serious political calculation.
“Owo has consistently delivered bloc votes for the APC over the years. That loyalty and strength must not be taken for granted. A zone that stands firm during elections deserves recognition when it comes to representation,” he stated.
He warned that any attempt to sideline Owo/Ose again would not only be unjust but politically risky, stressing that no party can afford to ignore a stronghold that has proven its electoral weight time and time again.
“Owo cannot be pushed aside after standing solidly with the party. Justice, fairness, and political reality all point in one direction—rotation to Owo/Ose,” the DG added.
The DG concluded by urging party leaders, especially within the APC, to act decisively in the interest of unity, warning that continued exclusion could deepen dissatisfaction within the district.
“Power must not only be exercised—it must be seen to rotate. That is the foundation of trust in any democratic system.”
