The Office of the Director General of Opomulero Group has carefully reviewed the statement issued by the Accord Party in response to our defence of the Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Isaac Omowunmi. While we respect the right of every political party to express its views, we must state clearly that the Accord Party’s statement is built on emotions, political grievances, and personal sentiments rather than verifiable facts.
It is disappointing that instead of presenting concrete evidence of financial mismanagement, corruption, or incompetence against the Commissioner, the Accord Party resorted to repeating old political narratives and personal attacks that have no bearing on governance or public service delivery.
The truth remains that Hon. Isaac Omowunmi has distinguished herself as one of the most effective members of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s cabinet. Under her stewardship, Ondo State has maintained fiscal discipline, ensured prompt payment of salaries and obligations, strengthened financial accountability, and contributed significantly to the stability of government finances.
The attempt to reduce the performance of a Commissioner to disagreements with certain political actors is both unfair and misleading. Public office should be evaluated based on competence, integrity, and measurable results, not on whether every politician is pleased with decisions taken in the interest of government and due process.
It is also curious that a party which claims to advocate issue-based politics devoted much of its statement to political disagreements rather than presenting any factual evidence that the Commissioner has failed in her constitutional responsibilities as Commissioner for Finance.
The claim that Hon. Isaac Omowunmi should be redeployed from the Ministry of Finance is merely a political opinion that carries no weight against the impressive record of performance she has established since assuming office. Governor Aiyedatiwa has consistently demonstrated that appointments in his administration are based on competence, capacity, and results, and the Commissioner has justified the confidence reposed in her.
On the issue of the last governorship election, nobody is claiming sole credit for the victory recorded by the APC in Owo or across Ondo State. However, it is undeniable that Hon. Isaac Omowunmi and numerous committed party leaders and stakeholders worked tirelessly to mobilize support for the party and its candidate. Acknowledging their contributions does not diminish the efforts of others.
We therefore advise the Accord Party to focus its energy on providing constructive alternatives to the people rather than engaging in campaigns of bitterness against individuals whose records of service are visible to all.
The people of Ondo State are interested in development, good governance, infrastructure, economic growth, and responsible management of public resources. These are the areas where Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration continues to earn public confidence, with Hon. Isaac Omowunmi playing a critical role in the success of that vision.
No amount of political propaganda can erase performance. No amount of personal attacks can diminish competence. The facts remain stronger than the noise.
Signed
Hon. Olasupo Olakunori
Director General, Opomulero Group
