The Director General of the Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori, has warned the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that reintroducing candidates who have already been rejected by party members and the electorate could have serious political consequences at the polls.
Hon. Olakunori said the strength of any political party lies in respecting the democratic choices of its members, not overturning the will of the people through imposition.
“It is dangerous for any political party to ignore the clear verdict of its members and attempt to force rejected candidates back into the electoral process. Elections will teach the APC a bitter lesson if this trend continues,” he said.
He maintained that the party must reward credibility, popular acceptance, and internal democracy rather than political favoritism, stressing that injustice only breeds disunity and weakens the party ahead of general elections.
The DG urged the APC leadership to respect the outcomes of transparent party processes and listen to the voices of loyal members who worked tirelessly for the party.
“The APC must understand that the people’s mandate cannot be taken for granted. Candidates rejected by the people should not be imposed through the back door. Justice, fairness, and respect for democracy remain the only path to electoral success,” he added.
