The Director General of the Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael (DG Opomulero), has applauded the First Lady of Ondo State, Her Excellency Mrs. Oluwaseun Esther Aiyedatiwa, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye, and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for their unwavering commitment to ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and safeguarding the rights of women and girls across Ondo State.
DG Opomulero described the ongoing collaboration between the Ondo State Government, the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, UNICEF, UNFPA, and the Balm in Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development (BIGIF) as a bold and commendable step toward eliminating harmful traditional practices and promoting healthier communities.
He noted that the compassionate leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa, the advocacy of the First Lady, and the dedication of Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye have positioned Ondo State as a leading example in the protection of women, children, and other vulnerable groups.
According to him, the engagement of medical practitioners to reject the medicalization of FGM and strengthen case reporting demonstrates that the Aiyedatiwa administration is addressing the issue through practical, sustainable, and people-centered policies.
DG Opomulero also commended healthcare professionals, traditional institutions, religious leaders, development partners, and civil society organizations for supporting the government’s determination to eradicate FGM completely.
He urged residents across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State to support the campaign by speaking out against Female Genital Mutilation and embracing practices that protect the health, dignity, and future of every girl child.
He reaffirmed that the Opomulero Group will continue to support every initiative of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration that promotes social development, public health, women’s empowerment, and the protection of fundamental human rights in Ondo State.
