The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to the rejoinder issued by the media team of Hon. Timehin Adelegbe in response to our earlier statement. Unfortunately, rather than addressing the fundamental issues we raised, the statement resorted to emotional narratives, political propaganda, and unsubstantiated allegations.
At no point did we deny the constitutional right of anyone to express concerns within the APC. However, what we strongly condemn is the attempt by Hon. Adelegbe to celebrate what he described as an “Abuja victory” over the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. Such utterances do not promote reconciliation, unity, or party stability. They only deepen divisions within the APC.
If Hon. Adelegbe truly desires peace, he should publicly support the reconciliation efforts initiated by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa instead of making inflammatory statements capable of heating up the polity.
The media team’s repeated allegations of marginalisation remain mere claims without credible evidence. Governor Aiyedatiwa has consistently demonstrated inclusive leadership across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State. Political appointments, developmental projects, and government programmes have been spread across the state without discrimination.
If there were genuine grievances by any party leaders, the mature and responsible approach would have been constructive engagement with the Governor and the party leadership—not public grandstanding or attempts to portray Owo as being at war with its own government.
We also note that the media statement conveniently ignored our challenge to Hon. Adelegbe to render a comprehensive account of his stewardship after eight years in the House of Representatives. Rather than issuing self-serving commendations, the lawmaker should allow the people to objectively assess his legislative performance, constituency projects, empowerment programmes, and overall impact on the lives of the people of Owo/Ose.
The people of Owo and Ose are politically sophisticated. No individual or media team can arrogate to themselves the authority to speak for the entire Federal Constituency. The electorate will ultimately determine who truly enjoys their confidence through the democratic process.
We equally reject every attempt to drag the revered traditional institution into partisan political contests. Our traditional rulers remain symbols of unity, culture, and peace, and they deserve respect from every political actor irrespective of differences.
The Opomulero Group remains committed to the unity, stability, and progress of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State. We fully support the ongoing reconciliation efforts of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and urge all party stakeholders to place the collective interest of the APC above personal ambition.
Political contests will come and go, but the peace and development of Ondo State must always remain our overriding priority.
