The Director General of the Opomulero Group, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael (DG Opomulero), has described the recent comments credited to Pa Ademola Ijabiyi on Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the reconciliation process within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as unfortunate, unnecessary, and capable of creating divisions where none exist.

DG Opomulero, however, commended Mr. Obadofin Ademola for his mature and respectful intervention, noting that political disagreements should always be expressed with decorum and a sincere commitment to the unity of the party.

According to him, politics should never become a platform for manufacturing artificial crises or promoting personal interests above the collective progress of the APC and Ondo State.

«”It is unfortunate that some respected elders have chosen the path of public criticism instead of quiet counsel. In Yoruba tradition, elders are custodians of wisdom, peace, and reconciliation. They are expected to unite the family, not deepen divisions through media confrontations.”»

DG Opomulero stated that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has consistently demonstrated his commitment to peace, inclusiveness, and the unity of the APC while remaining focused on the enormous responsibility of governing Ondo State.

«”Governor Aiyedatiwa is busy delivering good governance through strategic investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, workers’ welfare, agriculture, and economic development. These are the issues that deserve the attention of genuine stakeholders, not politically motivated distractions.”»

He maintained that reconciliation within the APC is a collective responsibility involving the party leadership at all levels and should not be personalised or used as a tool to attack the Governor.

«”It is unfair and misleading to suggest that Governor Aiyedatiwa is responsible for every disagreement within the party. The Governor has consistently maintained an open-door policy and has never discouraged dialogue or reconciliation. Those who truly desire unity should pursue constructive engagement rather than public attacks that only embolden the opposition.”»

DG Opomulero also cautioned against attempts to create the impression that Governor Aiyedatiwa is responsible for divisions within the Ondo State APC.

«”It is becoming increasingly obvious that some individuals are overheating the political space with premature governorship calculations instead of supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa to succeed. Rather than concentrating on his constitutional assignment as Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s name is repeatedly being associated with political groups and campaigns that many believe are aimed at advancing an early governorship ambition. This is unnecessary and capable of creating avoidable tension within our party.”»

«”Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has spent barely one year in office after securing the overwhelming mandate of the people. This is the time to support him in delivering the dividends of democracy, not the time to distract his administration with premature succession politics.”»

DG Opomulero further stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political roots and relationship with Ondo State predate many of the current political actors.

«”President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been a central figure in the progressive family for decades. Long before many of today’s political actors emerged, respected leaders such as Chief Isaacs Kekemeke, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, and numerous APC stalwarts had already laid a formidable political foundation across Ondo State. No individual can claim sole ownership of the APC or President Tinubu’s political structure in Ondo State.”»

«”With or without the support of any single individual, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, as the leader of the APC in Ondo State, will continue to work with all genuine party leaders and members to mobilise overwhelming support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.”»

He urged elders and stakeholders to rise above partisan sentiments and play the fatherly role expected of them by promoting dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence within the party.

«”The APC has established constitutional mechanisms for resolving grievances. Those who genuinely seek peace should utilise those channels instead of litigating party matters in the media.”»

DG Opomulero concluded by calling on all APC members to remain united behind Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as he continues to provide purposeful leadership and deliver on his administration’s promises to the people of Ondo State.
