The Director General of the Opomulero Movement, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori, has strongly condemned the recent political posturing of Bola Tinubu Omolayo (BTO), describing his governorship ambition as misleading, ill-timed, and disconnected from the current realities of Ondo State.
According to the DG, it is both politically insensitive and morally questionable for any individual to begin to nurse governorship ambition against a sitting governor like Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who is still consolidating governance and stabilizing the state after a delicate transition period.
Hon. Olakunori emphasized that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s emergence is not by accident but a divine arrangement, especially following the painful loss of the late former Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu. He noted that the people of Ondo State recognize Aiyedatiwa as a God-sent leader at this critical time, and any attempt to distract his administration with premature political ambition is an affront to the collective will of the people.
He further stated that invoking the political legacy of the late Akeredolu to justify personal ambition is both disrespectful and misleading. The DG maintained that the late governor stood for purposeful leadership, courage, and people-driven governance—values that are currently being upheld by Governor Aiyedatiwa.
“BTO’s actions reflect a clear attempt to exploit sentiments and create unnecessary political tension. Ondo people are wiser and will not be deceived by desperate narratives aimed at destabilizing a government that is focused on delivery,” he said.
The Opomulero Movement therefore calls on all political actors to place the interest of Ondo State above personal ambition and allow Governor Aiyedatiwa the needed support to continue his developmental strides.
Hon. Olakunori reaffirmed that Opomulero remains firmly committed to supporting the administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa and will continue to mobilize grassroots backing for his leadership.
