The attention of the Opomulero Group has been drawn to the calls by a former aide to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for the removal of the Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac, and the proposed protest in Akure.
While every citizen has the constitutional right to express opinions and engage in peaceful protest, such rights must be exercised responsibly and should never be used to create unnecessary tension or undermine a government that is delivering tangible results for the people.
The timing and nature of this proposed protest raise serious concerns that it may serve interests beyond the genuine aspirations of the people of Ondo State. We caution against any attempt by external political interests to exploit legitimate democratic processes in ways that could disrupt the peace and stability of our state.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has consistently demonstrated purposeful leadership by assembling a team of competent and dedicated public servants committed to the development of Ondo State. Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac remains one of the key members of that team, discharging her responsibilities with diligence, professionalism, and integrity.
Since assuming office, the Ministry of Finance has played a significant role in promoting fiscal discipline, prudent management of public resources, prompt payment of workers’ salaries, improved financial planning, and the funding of critical infrastructure and social intervention programmes that continue to benefit the people of Ondo State.
It is therefore unfortunate that rather than acknowledging these achievements, some individuals have chosen the path of public agitation without presenting verifiable evidence of wrongdoing or misconduct against the Commissioner.
More importantly, the organisers of this proposed protest owe the people of Ondo State a clear explanation of the basis for their action. What exactly is the grievance? Are civil servants protesting the non-payment of salaries? Are pensioners being denied their entitlements? Has the government failed to meet its basic financial obligations? If these are not the issues, then the organisers should clearly state the facts and provide credible evidence to justify their demands.
Peaceful protest is a constitutional right, but it should never be built on speculation, misinformation, or political vendettas. The people of Ondo State deserve transparency and honesty from anyone seeking to mobilise public support.
We therefore challenge the organisers of the protest to clearly state the reasons for their planned demonstration and substantiate every allegation with verifiable facts. Public opinion should be guided by truth, not emotion or political propaganda.
We advise those with genuine concerns to utilise the appropriate channels of engagement instead of embarking on actions capable of creating unnecessary political distractions. Governance thrives on constructive criticism, not campaigns targeted at individuals without substantiated facts.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa deserves the support and cooperation of all well-meaning citizens as he continues to implement his administration’s developmental agenda. Attempts to sow discord within the government will neither strengthen the administration nor advance the collective interest of Ondo State.
The Opomulero Group therefore expresses its unwavering confidence in Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac. We urge the good people of Ondo State to remain focused on supporting the administration’s developmental programmes rather than being distracted by divisive narratives.
We also state unequivocally that the Opomulero Group will resist, through lawful and democratic means, any attempt by any individual or group to destroy the peace, unity, and stability currently enjoyed in Ondo State. Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is working, and the overwhelming majority of the people of Ondo State remain firmly behind him. No politically motivated distraction will derail the administration’s commitment to good governance and sustainable development.
History will always favour those who build institutions, promote unity, and place the interest of the people above personal or political considerations.
