OPEN LETTER

TO: His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State

SUBJECT: A CALL FOR FAIRNESS AND EQUITY IN AKURE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY — TIME TO BREAK THE 28-YEAR JINX AGAINST AKURE NORTH

Your Excellency,

I write to you with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to justice, equity, and the collective progress of our dear state, Ondo.

As the Director General of the Opomulero Movement, I am compelled to respectfully draw your attention to a longstanding political imbalance within the Akure Federal Constituency — the persistent exclusion of Akure North Local Government from representation at the National Assembly since the return of democracy in 1999.

For 28 years, Akure North has remained without a voice at the federal legislative level, while other local governments within the constituency have had the opportunity to serve. This reality, Your Excellency, raises serious concerns about fairness, inclusiveness, and balanced political participation — principles that form the bedrock of any thriving democracy.

Your administration has, without doubt, demonstrated commendable commitment to people-oriented governance and equitable development across Ondo State. It is in recognition of this leadership that I humbly present this matter as an opportunity to further solidify your legacy as a unifying and just leader.

This moment presents a rare and defining opportunity to correct this historical imbalance. Breaking the 28-year jinx against Akure North will not only restore hope and a sense of belonging to its people, but will also reinforce public confidence in our democratic institutions.

I also respectfully appeal to leaders of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to rise above narrow political considerations and embrace fairness by supporting the emergence of a credible and competent candidate from Akure North in the next federal representation arrangement.

Such a decision will foster unity within the constituency, deepen grassroots inclusion, and strengthen the credibility and electoral strength of our party among the people.

The Opomulero Movement remains steadfast in its commitment to advocating for justice, equity, and equal political opportunities for all communities across Ondo State.

Your Excellency, history beckons — and the people of Akure North look forward with hope.

Yours faithfully,
Hon. Olasupo Olakunori
Director General, Opomulero Movement
